How many miles do you want out of your Fiesta, realistically?

I want to get a solid 250K out of my 2017 with the 1.6. Anything past that is a bonus. Do you all have a mileage target or expectation?

As a driver we have had several cars approach 300,000 miles - one in particular was "Green bean" a green fiesta...

Its not in service anymore - got sold off. Final mileage was over 304,000 miles (not km)

The list of service done to it is not around anymore but I can tell you that it was original motor and there was considerable levels of belt and part changes; ALT Battery and timing along with Serpentine belt changes. I drove it as one of my first efforts in being for being a delivery driver for employment.

So it is possible

At 140k in my 2011. Plenty of maintenance done, just did the O2 sensors and cleaned the throttle body. It is running really nicely again. There is still a bit of a squeal when the engine is cold. It goes away after a minute. 200k feels feasible but I'm not sure how it will fare in Tennessee. All of the miles thus far have been in Florida.

My Fiesta ST has had nothing but regular maintenance and replacement of normal-wear parts (tires and battery) in the 45,000 miles I've had it since new.
It's a hoot to drive, and I don't baby it. Still gets over 30 mpg, mixed or freeway. I expect 300,000 miles, if I live that long and can still get gas.

What are the intervals for the serpentine belt and timing belt/components?

I’m looking to get at least 220,000 miles on this car so 300,000 is great to hear!

Get it early - the Fiesta talked about in this thread was purchased used - for service as delivery - so the records for earlier ownership's are sketchy.

But as it comes along in time and its history leaks out, the trick is to get it early and stick with earlier - as in 75,000 miles or before - but don't sweat +/- 5,000 miles in that interval. The Head gasket was also replaced around 125,000 per conversation - so details are in getting it done early and at no-expense for if done early and regular - the expense averages out to be cost effective when Gas goes up past $3.00 a gallon, so the more effort in getting it done and early - gets you across that 300,000 mile mark a lot easier.

Excludes Bearings, Arms, Shocks Struts Brakes - the usual wear stuff...
(...And someone trying to take it out while you're still driving it...)

Given my experience with pulling a few Fiesta’s apart, I think longevity is dependent upon how much rust develops in the engine cradle/ front subframe. And in the rear part of the body tub where the rear suspension mounts to the body shell. Once either of those areas become corroded the repairability becomes much more difficult and expensive.
Other factors that will affect viability of keeping a Fiesta going well past the 200k mark are the electrical system and the canbus related components that will not just fail with age but will also become obsolete and unavailable unless you plan ahead and collect the pieces that match your current Fiesta. The factory audio system in 2011 to 2013 Fiesta is quickly becoming obsolete due to age and the abandonment of updating from Microsoft corporation. I see no other alternative than a total cut and gut of the original Sync system in my 2011 in the next two years.

Im at 135k mi/220oookm, Id like to see at least another 50k mi/80ooo km.
There are front subframes for sale and they are reasonably priced. Might be smart to buy one now before they become NOS. I know mine's looking pretty scabby but I think all the fasteners could be persuaded off.
I always explain to my wife the virtues of purchasing parts cars, however with the short production life of technology & parts in cars now a days it's losing its value. Too many clean sheet designs now, cars are like cell phones, obsolete tomorrow 9am. I dont like it one bit :cautious:.
Back in the day I had my 78 t-top mustang, it ran a 302 block from an 84 Mark VII with HO cam, with 85 HO rotating assembly, 87 E7 heads and many more parts from friends. That engine eventually found way into an 84 Tbird, then a V8 Ranger conversion. And to think those parts interchanged back to 1968 and earlier...recycling at its best! But if you ask the masses, we are saving the planet one cell phone at a time :rolleyes:

I love this thread. I have about thirty five years of experience with the idea of buying an inexpensive new car and then taking care of it for the long term. People frequently discuss buying a used beater as a way to save money. I figured that it might be better to just make my own “self created beater” over the course of twenty years or so. The big advantage of this, I figured, was that I would control the entire maintenance history of the car. There is no mystery about the background of it. I liked that point.
My only conundrum is that I am close to having to make a decision about which one of the four vehicles I bought new and maintained for the long term I will need to sell off next summer. I think I have reached the practical limit of how many vehicles I need to own. The maintenance cost is not the issue. But the storage is an issue. I have been planning my next shop building and dead storage area is working out to be the most expensive part of the project. A minimalist dry storage area with limited power supply and no heat is really not usable for anything else than dead storage.

At 183k on my very base model 1.6L 2013. Hoping to make it to at least 200k. It's got a rough idle when the ac is on, and the body needs some tlc, but other than that she runs great.

Clean the throttle body 1st! ,mine used to do something similar when the ac in fact worked ,years later tho It would stall coming to a stop ,it was the throttle body, and of course get the ac system inspected ,make sure the a/c compresor is not starting to wear out or the belt itself
