Washers and wipers

The screen washer and wipers have stopped operating from the stalk switch, but in rain the front wipers come on.
I have replaced the stalk, but the issue has stayed the same.
The screen wash pump also does not operate off the stalk switch.
The rear wiper has operated occasionally whilst ive been trying to diagnose the problem, so its not a fuse issue.

I don't know if its related but the back tailgate is releasing intermittently, displaying boot open on the display screen.

Seems to be a difficult problem to solve, has anyone any ideas ?

Failed ground connection or possibly the Body control Module has failed. Two guesses off the top of my head.

Since the stick switch is not working - but the wipers do when it "senses" rain...

I'd look at both the Steering Wheel - and it's clock spring - something in the harness dislodged or is entangled and the connector is damaged, even the bottom knee kick panel might have something going on in there.

Then go up to the windshield - behind the mirror - is the sensor and "security / GPS" unit that houses that rain sensor - that harness needs to be secured. But that harness, along with the harness from the Wiper Stick - combine together in behind that kickpanel area into one harness to the BCM.

Since there is the possibility of a broken connector or bad ground - many grounds are tied together in one point under the carpets by the seats.

I seem to have the exact same problem since yesterday, but both my wipers and the water jet are not working , I have checked fuse, which has not blown, but I hear a tick sound near the fuse cluster when I try to engage the wipers . Also the boot is not locking at the same time , saying boot open.
can you let me know what fixed your issue.

Possibly the wiring to the wiper motor is damaged, but inside the engine compartment - you'll have to look for that wiring to the wiper motor. Check to make sure it's not crushed or damaged. The washer motor not to work, and you hear clicks which signals that the click you hear is from the area on the side by the fuses.

Did you suffer any accident or hits while parked or have a cracked headlight (moisture gathering inside)? Any recent glass windshield replacement? This symptom usually signals a leak into cavities and can form drips into and form pools in areas of wiring and ground bonding points.

This may mean some serious corrosion has set in - you may need to have a mechanic inspect the area for the boot signal to show open - and no wiper and washer means some serious electrical issues are showing up

Thank you Andy. No it was all working fine as of Friday, Saturday morning, just wiped the outside of the car with wet cloth, and when I tried to go for a ride , the boot error came up and also the wiper system won’t work. I did notice that the passenger side leg area there is some part hanging out which is wired to the fuse box. I have booked in with mechanic Monday morning to check for the issues.

Uh oh... hope no one tried to "Hotwire" and drive off with it...

Check to make sure the kick panel is OK and to see a part dangling down is not from cut wires

Ok thanks, no the car was not broken into, I guess it was always hanging, but I tried to put it back while cleaning. But nothing aggressive. Also I have seen rodents wandering around the parking spaces, not sure if they have bitten / messed up the wiring . As you suggested it could be a serious electrical problem , as many issues have started to come up. Will let you know how it goes

Update: there were few issues , my local
Mechanic fixed it , both the wipers, washer and boot lock are now working fine .
