Hi All, new here! I've owned a 2009 Fiesta for 4 days now....going well! Anyway, driving to work this morning, the radio just stopped working. The screen went black (absolutely nothing on screen, no static, no lines, just completely black as if it was turned off) and no audio either. No high pitch noise as i've seen others have, no nothing. I tried turning the car off and on again to no success.

I've googled some and people have mentioned the fuse, i checked fuse location and it said Fuse F19 was for radio and instrument cluster but all dials in cluster work perfectly. I haven't physically checked the fuse yet or looked at anything on the car but has anybody had experience of this? Got a 4 hour drive next week.....i need a radio haha!

Thanks in advance!

hi there idk about a 2009 but my 2011 did the same thing over a year ago, and end up being the factory amp on the radio itself burned
had to replace it as a whole unit , order mine from LQK salvage here in the states since Ford wanted $400+ to replace it and I'm not big on aftermarket radios
It was the exact serial number as my original one , it was plug and play for half the price ,even included the control panel with air ducts

Thank you! I've made some progress. I checked all fuses and they were all fine, i then removed the plastic cover over the screen and it turned on! I put the cover back on and it carried on working, then went to leave this morning and the same thing happened. Lifted the cover at the back a little and the screen turned on once again! Left the cover slightly open and it's worked so far. I'm very confused now!

The wire connected to the display screen is you issue. Kills audio and screen power.Take it off, blow aerosol air into the connection. Has fixed mine..

This is similar to a problem I too had with the Radio "freezing" on power up.

Got it home and left the key in ACC position and started to remove the upper top cover to get at the radio to inspect the wiring.

Had noticed the APIM unit - that display - has several edge-on connectors and was screwed onto the plastic and metal bracket the radio shared. Its above the radio but you may also notice on sunny days it gathers a lot of heat. So I took out the screws and inspected the display - by fiddling with the bracket screws I reseated the APIM display and made sure the connectors were on and it worked! Left the unit in that condition and was able to put the plastic cover on and snapped into place and now I don't seem to have any issues with both the radio and or the display Still works - knock on wood.

My suggestion here is to remove the upper cover the one with the shade and inspect and even take out the screws to check the APIM for seating and placement issues - like the cover and the display pinching together or the connectors needing to be reseated. The whole process - takes about an hour to do this job but if it makes the radio work again, then I'm not scrambling to find a DIN cover plate, radio and new keypad to make up another radio install. Even if you discover issues, then you have a plan of attack and a means to understand how to fix it.

Not having a radio in the car is like listening to the ball-game and the moment the pitch arrives - it quits working - that's suspense and a cliff-hanger - I hear ya!
