Just checking in. New car to me @ 65k miles. Stock everything, SYNC basic. A few dings but overall a good car.

Looking for a couple of items. The rear parcel tray that attaches to the hatch (raises with hatch).

The panel that covers the spare tire?
Also, advise on programming 2 new keys when I only have one. Is this possible on my own or does the dealer have to do this?

Thanks, all!

Made my own boot/spare-tire cover out of .25-inch pressboard and mouse-fur carpet stuff from Home depot...$28. Done!

Today, I'm trying out PlastiDip. Oh, how I wish I had this when I had my RX3 in 1978! First, trying it out on the lower rear valance. It's always looking sad with that grey that doesn't match my Magentic paint. The idea is to get a feel for it so I can do the wing I want to buy in a couple of months. Also, added a black exhaust tip and last week stuck on a Stubby 2-inch antenna and some carbon-look plate surrounds.

This weekend...gonna install the Rally Armor basic mud flaps and anything else that gets here in this batch (wing, already installed the wiper & with-glee-I-can-see-now, new spark plugs, lug nuts to replace the boring grey stock ones, cabin air filter, & a K&N cleanable air filter).

Also, in October, installed this protective rubber strip I picked up on Amazon. I love it but today I noticed it is coming unstuck on the left side. So off to O'Rielly's for some new sticky-downy tape.

So I guess this is turning into a build thread...

Only got to the lug nuts, today. Nothing else came in the mail, except the air filter...gotta wait 'til the filter oil shows up on Monday.

Man, I am so glad I did this. The stock nut caps were still on the left front wheel nuts and they would not come off. I had to beat them off with a hammer and a punch. What should have taken 5 minutes took 30 on that wheel. What a nightmare these things are. What were they thinking? I imagine my daughter trying to change a tire in the middle of the night battling these stupid caps. Caps...now trashed! Gotta dress up the tires to match the shiny new nuts!

K&N filters are sold pre-oiled. Stick it in.

The biggest reason people hate on K&N filters is that they can get their oil on sensitive intake parts. If that happens, it's because you over-oiled it.
When you clean it after 50,000 miles or so, you have to follow directions. Spray it with just enough oil to soak into the fibers over time, and let it sit for a few hours. You don't need much. Use the stock filter for a day if you need to drive it.

Understood...I guess I should have opened the box! It's been like 35 years, but I had one each on my Vee and my tow vehicle. So, yeah, understood. Sticking that and my cabin filter in tomorrow. [driving]

Cabin & intake filters in. The cabin filter was...well... 66k miles of EWWWWWWW! The intake filter was probably new when I bought the car in Sep. Gonna keep it around for a spare for like econoboxrocks says above.

Rear flaps on. I like it! Made a cardboard template out of a cereal box. Used 1/4x20 hardware into the existing holes where the fabric plugs came out, drilled a hole for a self-taping upper bolt. Front flaps tomorrow (because they will be harder). Hmmmm, might have to paint those brake drums....

Front flaps on! They were actually easier than the rears were. About $16 in hardware to mount the basic flaps. Happy!

Wing came, today. Gonna spend the next few days doing a test fit, then PlastiDip black, and then refit. It's about 5.5-inches wider/deeper/longer than the factory winglet. [biggrin]

Turned out great!

Was the 3rd brake light refit - being that this "wing" is longer in depth, did you have any wiring headaches or was the harness long enough or did it come with the 3rd brake light installed?

I used my brake light (no brake light in the kit). I lengthened the 2 brake-light wires the same length as the washer tube that was supplied in the hardware kit; about 6-inches or so. No headache for me. I used solder-less crimp connectors and a bit of wire I had.

Very nice upgrades! I should have done the mud guards on my ST. But too many other things going on are sucking up the time.
