2013 Fiesta Radio not working

This is related to my post about installing an Android unit.

My radio quit working the other day and the screen only displays the Ford logo. I checked the fuse and it is good. I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and no change. Before the battery disconnect there was no response at all, now the radio unit will eject a CD, and the menu button works but nothing else.

No response to Radio, Aux, or Phone buttons. No Media menu, Bluetooth or anything else...just a basic menu.

I tried installing an Android unit but it is not responding either.

I just don't know what I am missing.....

I know this is old, but I actually am having the exact same issue here. I haven't been able to get any codes though, so i guess this is sort of a bump to see if anyone has knowledge on this? Mines a 2013 model S, and from what I understand the "radio box" as its described to me is fried. and I can't find solid information on what I should replace it with. I'm told if I get an OEM one I'll be just waiting for the issue to reoccur. as a bit of an audiophile im getting pretty bored of cramming a bluetooth speaker into the slot where my clock/screen is lol. any help would be greatly appreciated! The "Codes" shown by the previous user are diagnostic result codes sent to the "Selt Test" HEC display the Pod instrument panel - the one that displays your ODO and TEMP gauge.

IN the "S" model - you can still review the HEC Diagnostics - just Press and Hold that Button on the Left Display POD (Your RPM Side) and insert your key turn it on to ignition - not start - and give it five seconds and it will display tESt - you can then punch the button to scroll thru the various diagnostic results - one be Gauge sweep then LED lamps - on up to dtC with may show results - which is what you'd see in the Self test mode..

In the previous posters - that "DA0000" is a main failure of the Display - that means the APIM that shows what the Radio box is doing - is not working with the Audio unit

"C07488" -this is specific to their vehicle chassis - don't know...

"C1FFFF9300" is another "chassis" specific code usually with those numbers and the sheer number of them, tells me this is a missing but expected module - so it has to have instruction to follow at that specific address or condition - so it looks for the module - but it doesn't exist or can't be read - corrupt - so that usually means a more catastrophic failure occurred to cause this and the other "C" error

In your case, the Audio head unit - the communication to the APIM has failed - in different ways, one the Head unit - the APIM or both - are not communicating.

The Audio side, there are electronics that will fail with age and power surges - so older weak battery vehicles tends to lose the electronics sooner due to the age and the voltage regulation of a weaker battery and the power swings from the electrical needs of the vehicle at that age cause this type of condition more often than not.

IF you can take the dash apart, you'll find the APIM - so if it can show FORD Audio -and the sub-menu from the console keypad - then the main issue is with the Audio Head unit itself - that has failed. The APIM may still be working it just can't find the Audio Head unit.

eBay is pretty much the only place to find a souce of these spare Audio Head units - just look for your Date Code and specific part FORD number - and hope you can find something in that year that will work. Otherwise the refurbished - if any can be saved for that, might be a better option else you may have to find a DIN or Double DIN console skin upgrade so you can install a more dedicated audio system.

That is the point I'm trying to bring up.

In a word, yes - it can be done (ok, 5 words) but if you work with a local installer, they may be able to locate a new skin and better install for you - some are going with the "tablet" drop in to take over the Radio / SYNC.

IN a 2013 though, you don't have "SYNC" like 2014 and older units - so this would be a considerable yet, easier upgrade path. Easier? Because, you don't lose SYNC, it never had it. Considerable because you may lose the real estate you need to see the APIM message display for the other features the Fiesta will use the Center Console message display unit for.

The support Ford has for the Fiesta is limited, they made several changes thru the years. That doesn't help those with Fiestas' earlier than 2014 - the Audio Head unit replacement is possible, but not guaranteed - either to work or it's lifespan - but it is the easier, less hassle route to take.

Else you'd have to find a Fiesta Console refit Single or Double DIN replacement - which then the Audio Head unit goes away. You patch in (rewire inclusive) a radio or system you want to have to fit that cutout. It will fit any standard DIN unit - but the overall "square" is Double Din size and depth - so the bracketing is required - the Double DIN side of install unit case - works better.

Some have had to trim away the back panel to get clearance and ventilation for the new installs' heatsink and free air space so the plastic console doesn't melt or stink when the new system heats up.

You'd have to get the Cutout in order to install that Double DIN - and a rewire harness to install and work with all 6-speakers the OEM is - have not seen much on this since 2020 in any threads around here.

So theoretically, if I sourced a single DIN replacement unit, although less fancy (at least i got an alpine i may be able to slap in there. still new in the box.) it would stand a greater chance of my not having to hack away behind the dash?
I've seen some products that appear to leave the APIM message display alone, using single DIN radios. Sorry for my thick skull here but to be clear, if i did this I can take the existing audio head in the car right out.

Yes, your "single DIN" keypad is replaced - you have the "OK" button and it's cursor, you'll have the LOCK and the Warning Flasher (Hazard) button too. But the memory select program feature will not work - you won't get FORD Audio menu either, it will just sit there displaying the TIME DATE and any specific immediate attention messages aside from what you get from accessing the "MENU" which gets cumbersome for you have to use OK to bring it up and you'll use the cursory keypad around the OK to navigate to the feature and it's line by line toggles.

You can get to Sounds on the MENU, but that might not even display - so your radio then takes over the Audio and acts like an ordinary old-time radio with it's own controls and EQ functions.

Many of the APIM functions looped to it and back to the APIM - so it won't see the loop anymore so the RADIO is wired in like it's taking over the Speakers - it'll need power and it will need to supply power to the Antenna - so those have to be "patched in".

Else aside from the antenna - the Radio will complete the install but just doesn't have anything to do with Ford Audio.



I went to "Crutchfields" and found a PDF - this is the "instructions" for the install - The instructions describe a LEARN for the systems with SYNC and then another without SYNC - they tell you to press MENU to change the method in which it communicates. For with SYNC, it used the APIM as only a display - the "calculations'" for Volume and EQ and many other functions - SYNC handled it. So that changed the way the "loop" worked

Seems that the earlier versions of the Ford Audio for the Fiesta - given it's limits and hierarchy and uniqueness as well as chipsets used, the EARLIER the years of the Fiesta are, the easier it was to regress back to older Radio DIN days. As they ran the Fiesta thru the years of production - they added more and more layers to this onion - and when one piece of it fails, the whole rotten mess stinks...it's a complete fail. But when it works, it does a good job - just little to no support - even from Ford for a lot of the technology - like Apple and Android - even Windows - gets upgraded, versioned, even amortized out, and then it's rebooted - so it generates a problem with "orphaned" older systems - Ford just can't keep up like that...

Hey long shot, but did you ever get it to work? I am dealing with the same problem and cant figure this out
