I have a 2019 ford fiesta with 91,000 miles on it.

My 5speed manual tranmission is leaking from passenger side output shaft seal. I have already replaced it and it still leaks. Does anyone know if this is common or any info on what it could be?

Thank you for any help.

It happens, but usually, replacing it fixes it. Maybe you just had some bad luck with a bad part.

As the Good lord intended... recreational maintenance. It's odd. I found a bunch of seals that are metal but the 5 speed calls for a completely rubber one. Have you ran into that?

Go OEM on that part.

Hopefully you werent given a wrong seal by mistake, or a miss-boxed part. I have had that happen and had no idea till the work was done. If you do pull the old seal out, see if you can read the numbers on the seal soft surface just to verify.
Be sure when you install the seal to position it straight. Also, insure the proper depth, most bottom out but sometimes there are specs to follow. Before installing the shaft, lubricate the seal with a bit of fluid if dry.

Since you had to replace that seal on that side (passenger) how was the carriage bearing? When you drive and that bearing rolls, it can get noisy and vibrate - the seals may be able to handle some shake and vibration from that bad bearing but loose bearing cap on that passenger side can cause a rollicking thump that can affect that seal big time.

Since you have a 5-speed - it also might need to have the vent inspected - there usually is a cup container that vents air and pressure from the fluid inside the transmission as it runs - this handles both the transaxle and the transmission itself - so if it's plugged - the pressure has to go somewhere - so it finds the weaker points like seals.

The carriage bearing was free spinning and good to go. I marked the original position and put it right back. I'll have to check out that vent. Sounds like a check I wouldn't have thought of
