2014 fiesta 1.6 here from California. I bought this car with a single siezed brake caliper. (Front passenger caliper) when I cracked the bleeder screw it unsiezed itself. This led me to replace the brake hose and bleed all of the brakes. The problem still remauned

I then replaced the brake caliper. I removed the metal brake line and checked for blockage. There was no blockage. I reinstalled everything and bled the brakes. The problem still remained.

I tried swapping a used abs module without programming it to my car (module only) and the problem still remains plus I have the abs light flashing and traction light on. I can still swap reinstall it with my original abs module though.

Just to be clear. Only the front passenger brake caliper is siezed. But cracking the bleeder screw is the only way I can unsieze it. Any suggestions helps. There were never any codes in the original ABS module. Thank you

The ABS unit - it seems to have malfunctioned. The unit also has the "Proportional Valve" system that lets the front brakes apply braking effort more than the rear ones to prevent skids.

So the ABS system seems to be the one at fault, for the rear brakes release, the front calipers are part of this ABS system and each brake - caliper and wheel cylinder (Drum brakes)r or rear disc and front disc - are independently controlled by the ABS unit.

IF the ABS solenoid on one line is stuck it will inject fluid due to the pressure from the master cylinder, but refuse to release - or very slowly release that affected brake - due to the "cocked or stuck" solenoid valve - the ABS unit in many Fords are prone to sticking and so it may qualify for a "under warranty" repair - they will have to do the work.

Please! Don't try to pull the fuse and think it will recover - 9 times out of 10 - it won't - this is a mechanical physical issue - the electrical side will pass tests all day, the piston in the solenoid may be stuck and cause this.,

Thanks for the reply. The mechanical issue theory makes sense to me.

Maybe I can try to install the Junkyard ABS unit. But just swap the mechanical part of the abs unit and join the original ABS module with the Junkyard mechanical part together. Then bleed all of the brakes and ABS lines.

Does this sound like a possible solution?

It's possible, but don't expect miracles.

Why? That recall / warranty issue, they don't go into a lot of details about what is done in a refurb repair or even the cause, except for the symptoms of "stuck brake on one or more wheels caused by faulty ABS controller solenoids" which their resolution is to replace the unit and install another one - what they do with the other one is possibly just fix the electrical side or the mechanical - depending on their further bench diagnosis.

So for them to say that, but not a lot more details deals with their problems? Cause? - possibly in assembly.

OK, to help further this. The "Why" I have reservations of the idea of just replacing the mechanical - versus a complete swap of the used unit assembly is due to the OEM part you have, may have an electrical fault, that causes the solenoids in the other mechanical unit to work the same way - damaging the next unit you got from the junkyard - and if both halves were still together - it might have worked.
