Reverse on Automatic WONT Go

Its been a 50k miles on my fiesta. Now im experiencing from time to time this symptom. My car wont go or doesnt back up when in Reverse and engine light is on. So just to get out in the middle of road, i quickly turn off the engine and wait for 10 secs. Then turn the engine back on and there. I can back up normally. But still with engine light is still on.

As an additional with this when it shifts i feel the car is being pulled back before it goes and releases the next gear. Its a first time i have this on my first.

Do you have an idea whats causing this? I recently changed my transmition fluid and after that its clear on error codes. And after a month i got this symptom..

Have you read the engine code to see what's wrong? Sounds like it might be internal transmission problems.

Have no yet gone through reading the codes. But when you said its internal problem, it will be sad coz i drove the car twice or once a week and also i drive like a grandma and not like spirited driving thats really prone for tears on the engine.

Also an update, i drove the car yesterday and went on a long drive 200 + Kms. And Yeah at the first 10kms its really shuddering and i have to put it into N neutral everytime i came to a stop just to keep the engine running coz it feels like it will stall everytime i will stop. And when i was running at a long free way. All the lights on my dash disappeared meaning it went to a really smooth and no issue car while i drive the long freeway. And i stopped over for 3 hrs and turned off everyting to have the car a rest. And i was also happy coz it went back to normal with no trouble parking the car from D drive to R reverse.

And as i went back to the freeway going home its all Normal with NO warning lights on my dash. And i assumed that the car just needed to be drive longer coz i just use it 1 to 2 times a week.

But again as i get near to the area where i live. The engine light went back ON again and the shuddering when it shifts went back again until i parked the car in the garage. My R reverse DID NOT WORK again and i have to turn off the engine for a while and turn back ON just to have the R reverse working again just to park my car and end my day. I was full of hopes that i thought the problem was gone. But its still there

If definitely sounds like the transmission is on its way out. I wouldn't continue driving on it as you can risk other damages. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thats really sad. Coz it only had a 50k milage and only use it maximum twice a week...

I really have to bring it in. And your right it might damage more if i use it when the symptoms are always coming back.

I also tried some other fix like i watched a video on youtube. They say That it solves a lot of transmission issues. So i tried it this morning. I reset the addaptive learning of the car. And warmed the car good before going out.so the lights went off and i Went on a freeway. From a stop, i floored the gas pedal until i reach the 4th gear. And damn! This thing is Really FAST! It rev upto 5k rpm before it shifts the next gear. I did this 5 times just what they did on the video. And yeah all runs normal again with no issues. So i went back home driving like a grandma And there, engine light went back again. I just noticed that when you really do this fast driving style. The car goes back to normal running and its really smooth to drive and shifts

And recently i noticed that if i turn off the key i always hear a sound on the ECM like scratching. And if i dont hear it when i turn it of. The car wont start. So i turn it off again and there, i hear the ecm scratching. Meaning the car will start if i turn it back on again...

Its really weird and a really big question for me. Because i really take care of my fiesta coz i really love it. And then this symptoms came out of nowhere.. i just hope its not that bad coz in my country it cost a fortune to repair it... Anyways thanks for the info rooSTer. ill keep it posted.
