I just cut open a filter removed from a 2.0 Ecoboost Fusion belonging to a friend of mine. He runs full synthetic 5w20 and doesn’t drain it for the full 10k interval.
the cutter works best if I lock the base in a bench vise while I turn both the filter and the cutting adjustment knob. It’s okay. Way better than an angle grinder. E402F20A-7C45-4B8F-BE32-8E60E996E684.jpeg

2.0 Ecoboosts with just over 100,000 miles probably should get oil changes in 7k intervals instead of 10k. There is some black gunk in there.
I wonder how much of this tar like gook is on the piston rings?

Now this brings up even more questions...

Brand and type of Fuel?

Any additives?

Looks like in some areas of the filter the "congealing" might indicate another type of problem with, not from the oil but of, the condition of the motor? Which is why the question of fuel comes up.

Fuel? I am sure that price is the only deciding factor.
Additives? Unless it’s included in the fuel or handed over to the owner. None.
Considering it was purchased (@42k)used as an off lease used car, I can’t believe that it was as clean as it was! Frankly, I expected to see metallic particles. None of that at all.
