Removed the mouse nest from the top of the gas tank and repaired the wires.
Got into the car this morning and took our trash can out to the end of the road.
Got some bells and whistles going off. Check engine light, low fuel light; Miles to empty indicator just a series of flat lines. Car is running just fine. Everything else just fine. Working fine.
Looked everything over really carefully with a flashlight under the Hood and under the trunk and all in the back and bottom in the trunk. Wiggled a bunch of fuses. Disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. Plugged it back in everything still broken in the fuel measurement department.
Don't own a code reader. Probably should spend the $23 on Amazon.
I couldn't see any wires going to the gas tank from under the car so I assumed that they were on the top.
Took out the bottom half of the back seat and underneath there there's about a 6-in rubber diaphragm with some wires going through it. Pop that off. No problem. No glue. No hassle. Underneath that a big mouse, nest and two wires missing some insulation and touching each other. Fixed it with black tape. Code cleared itself. Check engine light back off. Fuel gauge working. Range 127 mi with 3 gallons of gas in it.
