Hello,
Going to need to replace most of the front suspension to get my 2012 Fiesta through its next MOT. What are the good aftermarket brands? Been told that the front shocks are soft and need replacing but not for the MOT. Thinking replacing the whole strut assembly. Saves me having to compress the coil. Is that a good idea or just replace the shocks. I need lower suspension arm and steering ball joints and tie rods to pass the MOT.

I know the brands here where I live, however I am not familiar with companies on your side of the Atlantic, short of worldwide brands.
I will suggest that you try to find suspension parts with greaseable fittings. These are commonly found on premium parts and when greased regularly will give you many more serviceable miles.
Replacing the strut loaded as a unit eases the job, however it usually dosent give you the ability to select components. Generally loaded assemblies are sold with economy components. I think the plus to a loaded assembly is all the components get renewed where as previously serviceability of each piece had to be scrutinized. Also in the strut department, research the brands for a shock/strut with mono-tube construction and avoid twin-tube styles if available. Mono-tube is a more robust unit and can withstand more abuse and generally last longer. Bilstein performance B6 (OEM height)/B8 (Lowered height) struts are monotube however if you are looking standard fare street ability, most are twin-tube for this platform.

Jump over to the suspension section and have a look at the various options available for the Fiesta. I think we have one of the biggest selections of dampers in the world of aftermarket dampers. Bilstien and Koni have a couple of options each if you are looking for a substantial upgrade in ride and handling. KYB has their excellent Excel G brand that is both affordable and inexpensive and will work with either the North American or E.U spec coils.
