2016 ford fiesta s will not start. Please help

Hello all I’m new hear and I need your guys help. I have a 2016 Ford fiesta S and it will not start. The obd code is P0882. The battery appears to be good. When you try to start the car nothing happens, the car does not crank or click. The radio and the lights all work fine. I already changed the ignition switch on the back of the key cylinder. I checked the fuses and they appeared to be fine. Im thinking that it could be the tcm but im not 100% sure. Your help is appreciated.

Did you try Google the code? - "2016 Ford Fiesta DTC Code P0882"
  • A DTC code P0882 on a 2016 Ford Fiesta indicates a "TCM Power Input Signal Low," meaning the transmission control module (TCM) is not receiving enough power from the engine control unit (ECU), likely due to a problem with the wiring, battery voltage, or the TCM relay itself.
So check the battery, and the cables including that little red box cover...

Why? As described in the post above the one you posted in the thread - that terminal is in several pieces.

The Post has that terminal that BOLTS to the BJB (Battery Junction Box) then that box, has several connections to it. All combine to act as branches to send power. So if things seem OK you also must check to make sure that the post to terminal to BOX junction - that one bolts, that also takes power, to that post terminal and bolts it to that BJB - that bolt can come loose and also can make the "sandwich" is uses for contact, fill with corrosion and dirt - prevents starting - even though everything else seems to power up.

Were you able to remove that red cover? That helps you see the Fuses and the connections - for the STARTER and ALTERNATOR use one big red (or usually it's red) cable to the BJB - which once the car starts - that section usually takes over all the power delivery - the battery can just take in power to recharge itself - the Alternator does the rest.

So if it doesn't start, that big red cable may not have enough power from the bad junction that bolt is, at the connection to the terminal that goes to the post of the battery.

How do you know? Lift that Red cap cover off - expose the system - Try to wiggle that BJB case, and see if that bolt that I talk about - turns or lifts after wiggling.

Now, try to start the car - does the car seem to start? - then you found your answer - shut off the car, remove the ground cable - undo that bolt lift the BJB from the Terminal connector to the Positive Post and use a wire brush and clean it.

IF not, grab some jumper cables and connect the positive cable to that bolt - the other to the ground the battery uses on the frame by the strut. It should start just fine.

Once started - take a circuit tester - the ones with the light bulb - and go from the ALTERNATOR/STARTER post to the Positive POST on the battery itself - does it light up?

Yes? Then yous problems are in the path between the Alternator Starter bolt post on the BJB and the Battery Positive Post

- the Circuit tester lighting up shows that it can complete a path with enough current to flow thru it instead of the bad junction.
IF you're not sure - you can verify the connection by moving the BJB side to side and observe the brightness of the Circuit tester bulb.
- if it flares up and goes dim - the dim is good, means the connections are improving with motions to scrape and burnish...
- but the flaring up isn't - it means intermittent and corroded or loose connection.

IF you get these results that connection needs to be repaired to get it back to working right.

IF not that then the Start Inhibit Relay may need to be looked at and checked for burned or pitted contact - check with a simple ohmmeter across the terminals for the power side while engaging the coil - anything over 1 ohm means the contacts are pitted and the relay should be replaced.

So you're in for some work - or send it to a shop to let them do it.
