2012 Fiesta S 4dr - question about remote Fobs/Keys

Hi all. Just purchased a 2012 Fiesta S 4Dr sedan for my son. When we bought it it only came with a basic key which you have to insert into the door to unlock.
The seller told me it only came with the basic key (no remote function on the key & no FOB remote) when he bought it - which, for a 2012 vehicle it seems really odd

So, my question is, is there any way to tell if it came with the keyless entry remotes, and if so, how would I be able to get one for my vehicle.
And if it truly did come without a keyless remote function from factory, how would I be able to add it.

Thanks in advance.

Okay. Just came back from the Ford dealership and was told it indeed came without the keyless entry/remote option, with no way to retrofit it.

Now, I've read where some (like 3 here) have had an aftermarket system iinstalled, but that was years ago. Wondering if anyone has done something within the last 2 or 3 years that works with a base Fiesta and the lectric door locks.

Probably not, and it would be expensive if you did it.
I think your son will just have to accept that he needs to use the key to get into and drive the car, just like we had to back in the day.

If you really wanted to know, there are people out here (like myself) that wish for the days of when all we had were keys to unlock the door. It's a physical thing - when you leave the physical and enter into the "RF-realm" the ability to copy and re-transmit a signal - any signal - it's too easy for AI or anyone using a decoder - to obtain the "public and private" scramble keys many keyfobs emit to discourage thievery.

Too easy these days to unlock using electronic countermeasures and get away with it - on any vehicle or home or anything with BT access.

I was searching more and came across the Avital Direct Electronics 2101L keyless system. $54 from Amazon. Curious if anyone has used this setup or installed in a 2011-2013 Fiesta/Fusion/focus
