Handbrake button issue

So I released the handbrake today to drive away and the button popped off! ('59 plate Titanium).

Now I obviously can't use the handbrake, it works but of course doesn't ratchet and stay in place.

Do they just screw back on? I have tried but nothing seems to happen, is there a rod inside the handbrake that the button secures to? The button doesn't look damaged at all.

Cheers for any advice.

Sorted! There's a rod inside the handbrake itself which had somehow become unscrewed from the button.

I found a vid on YouTube about this exact issue, so that saved a few quid for what would have turned out to be a wasted trip to the garage!!
